One of my Favorite Books: [The Girl Who Drew Butterflies..] by Joyce Sidman
If you have never read the book, [The Girl Who Drew Butterflies How Maria
Marian's Art Changed Science] by Joyce Sidman I highly recommend it!
The visuals are not only amazing, but the story is that of a woman who had an
interest in something that at the time could be found as somewhat not very
common for women at that time. .
The story begins in the 16oos and the author transports us to a time of
publishing house and amazing new discoveries. As a reader I was deeply
enthralled in Maria Sibylla Merian's life. A girl who was born in 1647
in Frankfurt, Germany.
I really enjoyed reading about Maria's life. She was a fantastic women!
She was a scientist, wife, explorer, author, artist and mother.
Maria researched and sketched insects she encountered. She studied and
researched what they were about. Maria recorded in detail where they
came from, their life cycle and much more.
If you have not already read it, it is a must read!
There are so many elements
in the book that would interest any avid reader.
I wanted to make this post short, as I can go on all day talking about this
wonderful book! Get inspired by Maria's life! Enjoy!
